My outcomes

We were asked to do 3 outcomes, but unfortunately I only did two. My third idea was not that great and I wanted to focus on quality rather than quantity. In my opinion, it has really paid off. My first idea was to create a watercolor diorama with many many paper layers. I wanted it to show the scene where eve takes the forbidden fruit off the tree as the garden of Eden stretches behind her. Venus, the goddess will also be there, bewitching eve and convincing her to eat the apple.

For my second idea, I wanted to create the forbidden fruit to hold in my hands. I wanted it to be mythical and magical, sinister yet beautiful. I added eyes on the outside of the peel to represent the knowledge and power this fruit contained. It’s a little bit jarring and intimidating, but it looks so juicy and appetizing, isn’t it enticing? Traditionally the for idea fruit is an apple, however, in my text it was re imagined into an orange. Originally, I was going to coat my orange in a layer of resin, but I decided against it because I didn’t want to risk messing it up. I took a lot of inspiration from Tina Yu’s sculptural work. Her work is very dreamy and whimsical and I took her blueberry sculpture as inspiration for my orange.

My third outcome was supposed to be a paper animation of adam’s eyes taking in different aspects of the garden of Eden. However, I was told the layout was too literal and not baller enough. I agree that is the case and I’m glad I didn’t do it, because if I did, my other two putscokes would not be nearly as beautiful.
